To hear the liberal press tell it, you'd have thought Coach Rice Sanduskied his Rutgers kids. He threw a few basketballs, cussed a little and shoved some guys out of the lane to show his players how to exercise the kind of aggression the game of basketball – and of life – often requires. If Coach Rice's hapless Tigers hadn't gone 15-16, threatening to take food out of his real kids' mouths (such a dismal record threatens any coach's livelihood), maybe he could have hugged and kissed them all instead, with the kind of homosexual intensity Coach Sandusky reserved for his special charges.

This is another example of political correctness run amok in the liberal press. The only thing wrong with Coach Rice's method was that he didn't take it far enough. If he could have dropped the shorts and jock strap of one of those disinterested losers right at center court and buggered the boy until he was howling to the rafters – obviously a winning combination for Sandusky and Paterno at Penn State for many years – perhaps he could have drawn the 110 percent effort he was looking for.

Political correctness doesn't win wars or convince enlisted men to charge machine-gun nests. School and sports are only training grounds for the military, to teach kids discipline and respect for their superiors. All players must learn to take one for the team, to sacrifice for the greater good of all. Coach Rice is just doing what he was taught to do in the superstructure of brutality laid out long before he came along. So get off his back and let the man do his job.
